In cooperation with the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the University of Primorska’s Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies, Afrodita Cosmetics is carrying out a project entitled Production, Isolation and Formulation of Health Beneficial Substances from Helichrysum Italicum (Immortelle) for Applications in Cosmetic Industry.

The biologically active substances extracted from immortelle plants have a number of beneficial properties, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic action, and thus show great potential for applications in the cosmetic industry.

The main challenge of the project is the identification and characterisation of the most promising genotypes of immortelle (Helichrysum italicum) for the Slovenian growing region in order to obtain biologically active components that can be further used for the preparation of different formulations suitable for the cosmetic industry.

The aim of the cooperation is to obtain a new variety of Slovenian immortelle with enhanced properties compared to the existing varieties. The research within the project, focusing on the preparation of formulations from immortelle with improved properties for cosmetic applications, follows the European research guidelines to offer highly effective cosmetic products to the consumer.

We are delighted and honoured to be part of the research project and to be registered as a scientific research group with the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS).

We believe that by combining the scientific knowledge of the participating faculties and the applied knowledge of the Afrodita Cosmetics development laboratory, we can achieve the goal we have set for this cooperation.
